Bali is generally known for its good weather during the dry season and for its beaches and outdoor activities. But during your trip, you will sometimes have to face bad weather such as heavy rain and cloudy days.

So what can you do to enjoy your trip even when it’s raining?

Cooking lessons: You will find a lot of places in Bali which offer cooking lessons: Seminyak, Sanur, Ubud, Kuta, Nusa Dua. It is a really good way to discover the local and traditional Balinese cuisine, and to enjoy a good meal! Generally, some cooking classes start with a visit to the local vegetable and fish market, in order to discover all the ingredients and tastes of the recipes before starting the creation of the dishes. 

Shopping centers: Bali has several shopping malls, generally located in Kuta, where you can find European shops such as Mango, Zara, H&M and many others brands. The shopping malls are generally huge, there aren’t only shops but also restaurants, cafés, spas and even a cinema at the Beach Walk shopping center of Kuta. The cinema shows the latest movies in English, it owns a “Studio Premiere” where you can watch films in luxury seats with food and drink service for 70.000 IDR.

Spas: Having a relaxing moment in a spa is the perfect wet weather activity, especially when you know that Bali is Asia’s spa capital and hosts 20 of the world’s best spa. You won’t have any difficulties finding spas centers in Bali: Seminyak, Kuta, Batu Belig, Ubud; they are almost everywhere. Some of the spas are also offering manicures and pedicures if you like to take care of your nails. It is not only for women, men can also ask for care services for their hands and feet.

Eating & Drinking: Brunch, coffee shops, fine dining, cocktails; there are many places with different tastes and atmosphere to fit your desires during a rainy day. A lot of hotels, restaurants and cafés are offering brunches every day. Often, in hotels and resorts, you can enjoy a delicious buffet on Sunday with seafood, toasts, eggs and delicious juices.
You can also read a book with a cup of delicious coffee and a smoothie bowl at some coffee shop or drink a cup of refreshing tea at “High Tea”; the best way to spend a delicious afternoon full of cakes, pastries, finger food and, of course, a cup of tea! You can find a lot of places offering High Tea, often with a beautiful view over the sea or rice fields.

Museum & Galleries: 

  • 3D Trick Art Museum DMZ in Seminyak: an attraction which puts forward beautiful sceneries and customs of Bali and the world in 3D art.
  • Five Art Studio in Ubud: located in a traditional Balinese house at Keliki Village, you can discover the traditional art of Bali made by local artists in a unique cultural setting.
  • Purpa Fine Art Gallery in Seminyak: offers a collection of contemporary art by established and emergent artists, both Indonesian and international.
  • Museum Kain in Beachwalk Shopping Mall, Kuta: the first textile museum which exhibits clothes such as the traditional batik of Indonesia. 61 rare pieces of various batik are on display and the collection will be changed every six months to show more than 600 rare batiks.
