A foreigner cannot become the owner of a property in Indonesia, except under certain conditions. The leasehold is therefore the solution to acquire a property, and to become the owner for a more or less long period of time. The average term of a leasehold is about 25 years, it can be less, but also more if the lease contract is renewed. Once the period is over, the property reverts to its original owner.
If you decide to invest in a leasehold, you will therefore own the land for a limited period of time.
